Housing Timeline for New Students
Students live on campus all four years at the College of Saint Benedict. The college operates on semesters and new students are admitted each semester. The following timeline applies to new students with an admission term of fall or spring semester. See the Four-Year Residential Experience page for more information regarding the four-year residency requirement.
1. Pay Enrollment Deposit
In early April, or as soon as the deposit is paid, the Admission Office will send a Welcome Brochure, which will include CSB/SJU email address information. CSB/SJU email address log in information is used to log into the Housing Portal. Priority Deadline: May 1
2. Apply for housing online (April 1-June 1)
To apply for housing on-campus, please navigate to the Housing Portal. To access your account you will need to use your CSB/SJU email username and password. Housing forms and any requests for roommates or accomodations due to medical need to be in by June 1.
Form to Complete:
CSB First Year Housing Questionnaire [New Students]
CSB Transfer Student Housing Questionnaire [Transfer Students]
*We have created a step by step guide for filling out your CSB Housing Questionnaire.
**If after filling out your Housing Questionnaire you need to update your requested roommates, you can use our step by step guide for Updating your Requested Roommates.
Again, requests for roommates must also be made by June 1.
3. Check Housing Status (mid-July)
Housing assignments and roommate information will be posted on the Housing Portal in mid-July. These assignments will also be sent to your CSB/SJU email address at the same time. It's encouraged that you contact your roommate prior to arriving to campus and plan things to bring. It is suggested that you talk about what type of appliances you plan to bring, so your roommate does not bring the same exact item that can be shared. The assignment process gives priority to students who submit their housing questionnaire the earliest. On the Housing Portal you have the ability to:
- View Housing Assignment
- View Roommate Information
- Complete Campus Housing Agreement (Lease)
- Update Emergency Contacts
- Review Meal Plan
Room Inspection Reports are accessed from the Housing Portal, but will be completed upon your arrival to campus.
