Julie Lynch

Biography

Professor Julie Lynch began teaching at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University in 2008. She teaches full time with a combination of the Communication and First Year Seminar departments. Her primary teaching focus is public speaking and rhetoric. In 2004 Julie completed a licensure at the St. Benedict Monastery in Spiritual Direction (mindfulness and contemplative listening). Her teaching and research expertise is derived from communication and mindfulness experiences. She currently presents research on Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction as a coping tool for transition to the college setting and presented most recently at the International Listening Association (2014) and the Communication and Theater Association of Minnesota and Central States (2015). The inspiring part of her job is working with public speaking students who are visually coming into their own confidence and empowerment.
