A sports team huddles with their arms around each other's shoulders. They are all wearing red jerseys with white numbers and lettering that say "Collegeville" on the back. The sky is cloudy, and the scene suggests a sense of unity and teamwork.

The Saint John’s University ultimate frisbee club team dates back to 1994 and competes with a mission of promoting the sport in a competitive and sportsmanlike manner.

Anyone is welcome to play – whether you have played the sport since middle school, or are picking it up for the first time.

The club promotes physical, mental and social fitness and seeks to build leadership skills, initiative and teamwork among its members. The team usually plays in one or two weekend tournaments during the fall semester, then travels out of the Midwest during spring break to play somewhere else around the country. Two-to-three more tournaments in Minnesota or neighboring states conclude the spring season.

Practices are held two-to-three times a week in the evenings outside on one of the field around campus or inside the Skalicky Dome during the winter months.

The team competes in the Division III men’s college division of USA Ultimate and has made a number of trips to nationals over the years, including a second-place finish in 2011.
