Frequently Asked Questions

What are important clothing items to purchase/bring for MN winters?

Warm clothing is essential for winter weather in Minnesota.  Some important items you should have are:  thick gloves or mittens, thermal or layered leggings to wear underneath other clothing, winter boots, a warm hat and a heavy winter coat.  Temperatures get below zero, and it is important to be prepared.

Are there places near campus to purchase winter essentials?

Yes!  There are several retail stores in the area as well as high-quality second hand stores.  Feel free to search the internet for a listing as retail stores and second hand stores may change over time.  CSB students can also access the Bennie Career Closet, who have a limited inventory of winter clothing available for students who may have limited resources for these purchases.

Would I be able to ship some of my belongings to campus if I am traveling from far away?

Yes, by using your assigned campus PO box and the campus address (37 S College Ave, St. Joseph, MN 56374), your items may be shipped to campus.  The student information desk in Mary Commons will email you when your items arrive.  See the CSB Residential Life & Housing page for any additional information on packing tips, contact information, etc.

How can I get to/from the airport to/from campus?  Are there local transportation services available?

There are some shuttle options to/from the airport as well as some local transportation options listed on the CSB/SJU Transportation website.

When academic and holiday breaks occur, is it still an option to stay on campus?
