Saint John's University ranked first among public and private colleges in Minnesota in return on investment (ROI) in an analysis recently released by Affordable Colleges Online. The analysis examined the estimated lifetime earnings of SJU graduates net of the cost of attending college. Affordable Colleges Online ranked 22 four-year colleges and universities in Minnesota.

"We are delighted by the news that Saint John's University was number one in this study," said Michael Hemesath, SJU president. "It is a tribute to our excellent education as well as to the talents of Johnnies in the professional world."

The Affordable Colleges Online analysis focused exclusively on the financial return to education.

"No research of this type is perfect," said Hemesath. "The biggest issue was one raised in a recent Star Tribune column which noted that men and women often make different career choices and take different career paths once they are in the work force. At Saint John's and the College of Saint Benedict, we view return on investment through a much wider lens. Our alumni talk about the moral, spiritual and ethical framework we provided them, as well as the community that nurtured them here, the leadership skills they gained, and the relationships they formed as undergraduates.

"A CSB/SJU education provides the foundation for a successful professional experience, but the thing that makes the experience so unique and transformative is that is it holistic. We provide a return on investment across a lifetime that is second to none."
