Collegeville, Minn. -- Saint John's University will hold its 1997

fall commencement ceremonies at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14, in the University's Great Hall.

A total of 19 students will participate in the ceremony, including nine graduate students from the Saint John's School of Theology and Seminary. Charles Bobertz, assistant professor of theology at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University, will serve as speaker at the commencement ceremony.

Brother Dietrich Reinhart, OSB, president of Saint John's, will present a presidential citation to Steven P. Bresnahan. A 1975 graduate of Saina Bohn's, Bresnahan is currently Executive Director of Catholic Charities in the Diocese of St. Cloud.

Bresnahan has been innovative in assuring affordable housing for low-income families. With the addition last year of the La Cruz Community in St. Cloud and Munich Manor, Catholic Charities increased to 650, the housing units it manages in the diocese. Catholic Charities also helps 450 hungry families each month -- more than 150 tons of food was distributed in 1996 from the Caritas Food Shelf.
