For the fourth year in a row, the College of Saint Benedict was one of the top higher education institutions to receive donations from Give to the Max Day, an event designed to increase giving to Minnesota-based nonprofits.

Unofficially, 533 donors gave $70,819 to CSB. This garnered CSB the No. 3 ranking in the Minnesota colleges and universities category. For the 24-hour period starting at midnight Nov. 15, donors were encouraged to go to the website giveMN.org and make a donation.

Gifts for CSB ranged from $10 to $2,500. In addition, CSB will receive a $2,500 bonus prize for finishing third.

"The College of Saint Benedict placing third again this year demonstrates the generosity of our alumnae, students, parents and friends," said Kim Motes, vice president of Institutional Advancement at CSB. "I am very grateful and incredibly proud that we can provide important scholarship dollars to smart, talented young women through these and other philanthropic efforts."

CSB staff credits this year's achievement to strong connections and the success from the previous Give to the Max events. Interaction on the website was highly encouraged and there were hundreds of comments.

This is the fourth year the Give to the Max Day has been held in Minnesota. To date, CSB has received more than $357,000 from GiveMN, which sponsors Give to the Max Day and is a collaborative venture that aims to transform philanthropy in Minnesota by growing overall giving and moving more of it online.

The 2012 Give to the Max Day event raised (unofficially) $16,391,905 from 53,339 donors and benefited 4,381 nonprofit organizations. This year's main leaderboard winners (based on dollars raised) were Cretin-Derham Hall High School which received $377,246, Interfaith Outreach and Community Partners, $370,664 and Second Harvest Heartland, $314,749. The top two finishers in the colleges and universities category were St. Olaf College with $233,351 and Concordia College in Moorhead with $100,850.
