CSB hosts 15th annual Festival of Cultures Nov. 10

The 15th annual Festival of Cultures will take place from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, in the Clemens Field House, Haehn Campus Center, College of Saint Benedict, St. Joseph, Minn.

The festival celebrates and recognizes the diversity at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University through student performances, cultural displays, food sampling and a fashion show. The event is free and open to the public.

Thirty-two countries will be represented at 39 cultural booths, including China, Australia, Russia, Ireland, Chile, the Bahamas and Trinidad and Tobago. Many of the presenters will come dressed in clothing native to their culture and serve samples of traditional cultural food.

There will be a total of 18 student performances, including traditional African, Bahamian, Chinese, Hmong, Indian, Japanese and Vietnamese dances.  Latino and Hmong songs will also be performed.

There are 237 international students attending CSB and SJU this semester, representing 33 countries. The festival also includes U.S. students who have a strong affinity to other countries as well as varying cultures within the U.S.

The event is sponsored by the Intercultural Center, CSB Residential Life, the International Student Program Office, CSB Culinary Services, SJU Dining Services, CSB Student Development, SJU Student Development and CSB Events and Catering.
