CSB employees recognized for years of service, retirement, special awards

Administrative and support staff from the College of Saint Benedict, St. Joseph, were recognized for their years of employment and retirement at the Employee Recognition Luncheon  May 20 at the Gorecki Dining and Conference Center, CSB.

Those honored included:

30 years - Juliann Rule, Fine Arts Programming.

40 years - Neil Spanier, power plant.

Retirement - Cindy Beuning, president's office; Barb Fahnhorst, student employment; Stephanie Jussila, institutional advancement; Stuart Lang, institutional advancement; Bill Minier, security; Larry Schug, physical plant.

In addition, two individuals and two teams were recognized for their contributions with WOW Awards. The individual recipients were:

Marah Jacobson-Schulte, coordinator of Service Learning, for her work in expanding the program to more than 500 students and 50 community partners, as well as the establishment of the CSB Jackson Fellows and Bonner Leader programs;

Jody Terhaar, CSB dean of students, for a presentation to the National Association of Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education. She co-presented a case study of several initiatives implemented over the past several years as a community and college partnership to address off-campus student behavior.

The teams recognized were:

The nine-member Health-at-Work Committee, which provided healthy opportunities for employees. Special recognition was given to Shelly Athmann for her initiative in writing and receiving a grant for $7,500 to make many of the offerings possible. The other committee members including Amanda Anderson, Jon Bruns, Anastasia Nathe, Jessie Sandoval, Jennifer Schwichtenberg, S. Janelle Sietsema, OSB, Diana Symons and Jeanne Terres;  

Julie Phillips, Maryke Taute and Heather Nicole Saladino, who developed and co-chaired a campus-wide initiative for CSB women titled "VOICE." They designed a week of events empowering women to learn about their own voices through art, poetry and songs.
