“Olivia Hoff’s close-reading skills are on par with an entry-level graduate student in an English Ph.D. program,” said Christopher Bolin, visiting assistant professor of English. That’s impressive for an undergrad junior … and even more impressive for a biology major. “I have challenged myself intellectually,” Hoff said. And she has risen to that challenge, maintaining a 3.9 GPA while being a student-athlete, working an on-campus job, maintaining membership in various clubs and organizations, and volunteering. In fall 2020, she served as a student coordinator at St. Cloud Hospital for the Hospital Elder Life Program – serving post-surgical patients by holding conversations, delivering creative-writing content and connecting these patients, virtually, to CSB/SJU peers participating remotely.
