“I study seeking to understand, not just memorize,” said Margaret Kobs. “I feel that this kind of learning is what sets up students for greatness, which is something I consistently strive toward.” Kobs is a biology major with plans of becoming a doctor of nursing practice. She has thoughtfully paired that with a Hispanic studies minor (and both study and service trips abroad to Spanish-speaking countries) “in order to better serve underserved communities within U.S. borders and beyond.” Nelsy Echavez-Solano, professor of Hispanic studies, raves about her passion for service, her work ethic and her capacity for teamwork. “In most instances,” said Echavez-Solano, “this kind of description of a student might seem hyperbolic; in her case it actually measures and reflects a most realistic assessment.”
