CSB Bookstore Dedication

The dedication ceremony for the new College of Saint Benedict Bookstore will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 29, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Mary Commons on the CSB campus. Everyone is invited to attend.

On display at the bookstore will be the contents from the 1955 cornerstone of Mary Commons along with the contents of the new cornerstone to be reopened again in 50 years. Some of the contents in the new cornerstone will include letters to the future from CSB President, Mary Lyons; Prioress, S. Ephrem Hollermann, OSB; and CSB Student Senate President, Melanie LaComb. A letter representing a day in the life of a CSB student, photos of current trends and a poem chosen by U.S. Poet Laureate, Robert Pinsky, are other items to be included in the time-capsule.

According to Carol Marrin, CSB Bookstore director, " The additional space has given us the opportunity to expand our general book selection and to encourage special orders with easy access to a database of current books. The new bookstore features books written by campus authors, members of the monastery, Benedictine titles as well as women's titles, literature and poetry. Emphasis is given to women's interests including the domestic arts, spirituality and traditional healing and children's titles. The bookstore also features handmade greeting cards and gifts."

Robert Pinsky, U.S. Poet Laureate and Pulitzer Prize nominee will be attending and reading one of his poems at the dedication ceremony. Pinsky will also read from his poetry at the Benedicta Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. His appearance is part of a series of events sponsored by the CSB Literary Center, Graywolf Press and the Teagle Foundation.
