Adjunct Professor of Organ
Biography
David Jenkins served over thirty years as Liturgical Music Director at the Saint Paul Seminary, University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, and as an instructor in organ and harpsichord for the University of St. Thomas. From 2010 to 2016 he also served the Music Department at St. John’s University and the SJU graduate School of Theology as an adjunct instructor in organ, piano, and church music. He earned a DMA in Organ Performance and the Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music. In 1980-1981 he studied organ in Denmark under a Marshall Fellowship. He also holds degrees in organ performance from Oberlin Conservatory and the University of Iowa. His teachers have included Howard Don Small, Garth Peacock, Delbert Disselhorst, Grethe Krogh, and Russell Saunders. Dr. Jenkins is past Dean of the Twin Cities Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and was Co-Chair of the 2023 North Central Regional Convention of the American Guild of Organists held in the Twin Cities. He is active as a recitalist and collaborative keyboard performer, including most recently as organ soloist for a performance of the Organ Concerto No. 1 for organ and orchestra by St. John’s alumnus James P. Callahan.
