Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you decide on this program?
I chose to study abroad because I wanted to expand my worldview and explore countries and cultures that I have never experienced before.
Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your program that made a lasting impression.
Living with a host family was an extremely impactful cultural experience because I was fully immersed in the Spanish culture every day. I ate traditional Spanish foods, took part in cultural experiences such as siesta and La Feria, and communicated with my host family in Spanish.
Based on your experiences abroad, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?
A semester abroad teaches students core life skills such as respect for others, communication, and flexibility. I have become a more independent person and a stronger student through my experiences abroad. My cultural lens has also expanded immensely which allows me to interact more confidently with other people and cultures.
What advice can you offer for CSB+SJU students who are considering or planning to study abroad?
DO IT! It is the most amazing way to connect with Bennies and Johnnies you may not have otherwise met as well as other students from other schools and even other countries!
