Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you decide on this program?
I’ve always wanted to go to Ireland, as I have Irish heritage and have heard it’s a beautiful country. I decided on this program because it gave me a chance to explore the country through a theological lens with Professor Anna Mercedes.
Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your program that made a lasting impression.
We went to a lovely place called Brigit’s Garden. There we made Brigit’s crosses (a beloved Irish tradition) and learned about how they weave together Celtic spirituality, Christianity, and a love of nature.
Based on your experiences abroad, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?
My short-term program helped me learn how to be more flexible and adapt as plans change, how to manage my time and money better, and how to navigate new situations with curiosity and excitement.
What advice can you offer for CSB+SJU students who are considering or planning to study abroad?
Do it! You will have so many adventures and make great friends.
