We Shall Overcome

EXPECT JUBILANCE

Experience an exuberant, joyful Gospel celebration that will move you with heart and soul. Inspired by the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., We Shall Overcome showcases a soulful range of African American music traditions interwoven with spoken word from Dr. King's recorded speeches. These songs unified a generation of civil rights activists. This inspiring production, which will feature a joint campus and community choir, ties together a living lineage of music and culture, including gospel, classical, jazz, Broadway and spirituals. Musical director Damien Sneed's intimate understanding of each genre allows him to fluidly cover so much musical ground. From Aretha Franklin and Wynton Marsalis to Duke Ellington and Stevie Wonder, We Shall Overcome takes you on a remarkable journey of resilience and hope.
