A specially customized Ovation Adamas guitar becomes the main character in this luminous, groundbreaking concert. Hailed by Rolling Stone as “a genre unto herself,” composer and guitarist Kaki King earned critical acclaim for her eclectic mix of unusual tunings, complex fingerstyle picking and slap bass techniques. In her latest work, “The Neck is a Bridge to the Body,” she uses her guitar in an entirely new way: as a projection screen. This performance is King at her visionary best: deconstructing and redefining the role of solo instrumentalist with a playlist that ranges from acoustic to high-voltage rock songs, all while projections illuminate and transform her guitar.
