Disagreeing Better Keynote Event

Disagreeing Better in collaboration with the McCarthy Lecture will host a kickoff keynote featuring author and professor John Inazu in collaboration with The Theatre of Public Policy improv-comedy group.

John Inauz, Ph.D., is the Sally D. Danforth Distinguished Professor of Law and Religion at Washington University in St. Louis, who will speak about his latest book Learning to Disagree: The Surprising Path to Navigating Differences with Empathy and Respect (Zondervan, 2024).

Conversations/classes/meetings with John Inazu: John will be available for meetings and discussions with classes or with small groups of students/staff/faculty/monastics during the day on Sept 19.

Social Isolation, Belonging and Community

Multicultural Student Services office in partnership with Project Optimist  will be hosting a moderated conversation about social isolation and belonging on our campus. This event is a part of Project Optimist’s community conversation series, Shades of Purple: dialogue across difference.

Students are invited t for a moderated conversation about social isolation and their lived experiences as it relates to belonging. The dialogues will take place in small breakout rooms of approximately four to six participants, one moderator, and a reporter. Dialogues will last approximately 75 minutes, with time before and after to connect with others, enjoy some food, and provide feedback on your experience.
