Fifteen alums and friends of the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University (CSB/SJU) visit campus for 4 half-day sessions scheduled throughout the school year. Every Wednesday from week 3 to week 11 mentors are on campus. Students sign up for 30-60 minute visits with the Center Mentors to gather information that further their work on their entrepreneurial venture. In addition, student clubs operating fundraising ventures and students that run their own businesses or nonprofits use these mentors. Center Mentors are also available for classroom presentations. Center staff provide orientation and support to the Center Mentors and assist the students in finding the right mentor for their questions.
Students that already operate their own businesses or social venture, whether on their own or as part of a student club, are provided access to services that can support the advancement of that business or social venture. Services include: consultation on project and business plans, access to mentors, connections to alumni working in the same industry, access to computers loaded with business planning and management software and facilitated access to resource. Currently six business projects have designated use of the Student Business Hatchery Office in 320 Simons Hall.
