LockDown Browser

LockDown Browser® is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within a learning management system. Used at over 1500 higher educational institutions, LockDown Browser is the “gold standard” for securing online exams in classrooms or proctored environments.

Installing LockDown Browser

In order to use LockDown Browser for an assessment, you must download the application locally to your computer. If a Canvas created quiz or test has LockDown Browser enabled, you will not be able to complete that assessment within Canvas. Instead, you need to run the LockDown Browser application first which will then route you back to your Canvas courses to take assessments. Click the “LockDown Broswer Download” button below to initiate the installation process.

Respondus Monitor Webcam Feature

Respondus Monitor is a companion application and webcam feature for LockDown Browser. The College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University has a small number of seats for Respondus Monitor. This tool allowed for remote proctoring through Canvas. With 200 seats (a seat is one student taking one test) for the whole campus for the academic year if you're interested in using Monitor please contact the Help Desk for assistance in determining if there are seats available for your use
