The CSB and SJU student and staff winning buildings get a plaque to display in their building.
Runs for 8 weeks, February 6 - April 2, 2011. CSB and SJU compete against 604 other schools, including St. Thomas. The school that has the highest recycling to waste ratio will win!
By closing campus for 11 days over the Christmas and New Year holidays, CSB cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 464 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalents.* (In 2009, the total saved was 469 mtons.) This was achieved by reducing the heat in all buildings to 50°F and shutting off the electricity. Imagine what is possible if each of us remembers to turn off the lights when we leave the room?!
Greenhouse Gas Update:
In fiscal year 2009, the SJU community emitted 27277 mtons of CO2e; 29354.5 mtons in 2010.
