Challenges and Opportunities FacingCatholic Higher Education Today
Lecture by Fr. James Heft, S.M.

A leading scholar on Catholic intellectual tradition, Father James L. Heft, S.M. is President of the Institute for Advanced Catholic Studies at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. In 2011 he was honored with the Theodore Hesburgh Award for long and distinguished service to Catholic Higher Education in the United States.

Fr. Heft served on the board of the American Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities and was chair for two years. After many years at the University of Dayton, where he served as chair of the Theology Department for six years, Provost of the University for eight years, and then Chancellor for 10 years, he left in 2006 to found the Institute for Advanced Catholic Studies (IACS). He has written and edited 11 books, written more than 150 articles and book chapters, and given dozens of presentations over the last several years, many of them focusing on Catholic education.

This lecture is free and open to the public.
