Donald McNeely Center presents entrepreneur awards to outstanding graduates

The Donald McNeely Center for Entrepreneurship of the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University will present its second Entrepreneur of the Year awards to outstanding graduates at a luncheon on Thursday, Sept. 6, at Saint Anthony Main Event Center in Minneapolis. The CSB Entrepreneur of the Year award will be presented to Margaret Murphy, president and chief operating officer of Olson. The SJU Entrepreneur of the Year award will be presented to Cary Musech, founder and managing principal of Tonka Bay Equity Partners. The CSB/SJU Social Entrepreneur of the Year award will be presented to Joe Cavanaugh, founder and CEO of Youth Frontiers.

Journalist Tom Brokaw to deliver Eugene J. McCarthy Lecture

Tom Brokaw, NBC News television journalist and author, will deliver the sixth annual Eugene J. McCarthy Lecture titled "Conscience and Courage in Public Life" at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, in the Saint John's Abbey and University Church. The lecture is co-sponsored by The Eugene J. McCarthy Center for Public Policy and Civic Engagement at Saint John's University, the University Chair in Critical Thinking at Saint John's University and the Diamond Certificate in Civic Leadership through the Inspiring Leaders Certificate Program at CSB and SJU.

CSB and SJU graduates find success

For the CSB and SJU classes of 2011, the data confirms our graduates are continuing to find success, despite economic challenges and high unemployment rates. Of the 96.9 percent respondents the classes of 2011, 98.7 percent of graduates report being employed full time (70.7 percent), continuing their education (15.3 percent), engaged in full-time volunteer service (7.8 percent), in the military (1.7 percent) or working part time (3.2 percent).

 

New townhome-style housing opens for CSB seniors

Abby Roche was as excited as someone holding a winning lottery ticket as she moved into Centennial Commons.  "This is amazing," Abby said as she and her mom, Nancy, made their way through her townhome for the first time Aug. 22. "I can't believe this is college housing."

 

 

Please don't miss this costly deadline

All CSB and SJU students are required to have medical insurance while attending college. Failure to provide medical insurance information will result in an automatic, non-refundable enrollment in the Student Assurance Services and Sickness Policy, and the annual premium either has been or will be billed to your son or daughter's tuition account.

 

 

Johnnie's essay selected in national contest

For most people, Christmas Day routines do not include polishing an essay for the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM). Last Christmas, Matt Syverson put the final touches on an essay and submitted it to a contest sponsored by the NEJM.

Deadline nears for off-campus housing for 2013-14

As the fall semester gets started, students will start to look ahead and considering their housing options for the 2013-2014 academic year. Saint Ben's and Saint John's begin the off-campus request process for next year very soon.
