As flu season approaches, we take this opportunity to remind you that we regularly plan for a variety of contingencies and are prepared to implement our response plan in the event of an outbreak of H1N1 influenza virus (formerly referred to as Swine Flu).

We encourage all students and members of our community to follow the guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control, which recommends the seasonal flu vaccine as a precaution. The vaccine will be available on the campuses this fall.

As the H1N1 flu continues to evolve, we will inform you of any news and guidance as it becomes available from local, state and national resources. Please refer to the CSB/SJU Web site (http://www.csbsju.edu) for information and updates as they become available. Additionally, the following Web site provides useful information regarding influenza and the H1N1 virus:

McKeown Center promotes sustainability

The first expected LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) building on the SJU campus has opened. The McKeown Center - set to be dedicated Sept. 12 - was designed and built to promote sustainability. The center highlights what has been a building surge on the SJU campus this spring and summer. Campus projects include two new buildings, and the renovation of three campus landmarks. The second new building on campus is the Flynntown Apartments, which opened in August. A remodeled Refectory dining area was also completed in the Quadrangle Building. More information: www.csbsju.edu/news/2009/08/sju/construction.htm
