CSB announces Hinton as president
Mary Hinton has been selected as the 15th president of the College of Saint Benedict. Hinton currently serves as the vice president for academic affairs at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, N.Y. Hinton and her family will arrive on campus June 15. She will take office July 1.

CSB and SJU commencement ceremonies announced
The College of Saint Benedict's 2014 Commencement ceremony will be on Saturday, May 17. Saint John's University's Commencement ceremony will be on Sunday, May 18.

SJU junior earns Truman Scholarship
Saint John's junior Tyler Brown is one of 59 students from 52 U.S. colleges and universities to be named a 2014 Truman Scholar.

Celebrating Scholarship and Creativity Day set for April 24
Celebrating Scholarship and Creativity Day will recognize the achievements of students, faculty and staff who have undertaken significant research, scholarship or creative works during the past year. Presentations will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 24. Events will take place on both campuses. Families are welcome and encouraged to attend.

CSB/SJU team wins at case research competition
A five-student team from the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University placed first at the Society for the Advancement of Management (SAM) Case Research Competition in Orlando, Fla.

Students inducted into Catholic honor society
Twenty-one students were inducted into the Omega Chapter of Delta Epsilon Sigma (DES) April 11 at the College of Saint Benedict. DES is a Catholic Honor Society. CSB has been a member of DES since its inception in 1940.

Students accepted into academic honor society
The fifth group of CSB and SJU students has been accepted into the Theta of Minnesota Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest academic honor society. A total of 72 students will be inducted into the chapter at 5 p.m. April 23 in Pellegrene Auditorium, SJU. The public is invited to attend the ceremony and a reception following at the Great Hall, SJU.

With summer break upon us, what can your students do to make the most of their summer break as it relates to their career or continuing education plans?

Pre-travel consultation encouraged for students traveling abroad
As students prepare for their education abroad experiences, they are encouraged to schedule a pre-travel health consultation as an important part of that preparation. During the travel consult appointment, your student can expect to review immunizations, past medical history, current medications, as well as receive specific information regarding the travel destinations.

Blazer Athletics offers summer camps
CSB Blazer Athletics offers summer camps for a variety of athletes. While being monitored and instructed by Blazer athletes and coaches, young athletes will hone skills in a positive and high energy environment.

Textbook buy back begins May 12
Textbook buy back is from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. starting May 12. Students will receive up to half of the purchase price of a textbook, if the professor has ordered the text for the next semester and if the bookstore does not already have a sufficient number of books. A used book company sets the price for all other books bought back. There will be a promotion in which students can win prizes at each campus location.

The McNeely Center celebrates 10 years
The Donald McNeely Center for Entrepreneurship is an entrepreneurship education resource that provides classes, coaching and assistance to entrepreneurs. It builds relationships among and between CSB/SJU students, faculty, alumnae/i, and community members to create and strengthen the entrepreneurial spirit.

Residence Hall closing times and summer storage
CSB and SJU residence halls will be closing on Friday, May 17. With the exception of graduating seniors and those moving to summer housing, residents need to check out on or before halls close. All students are to check out of their hall within 24 hours of their last final. If students need to stay later they should watch their email for information about requesting to stay later.
