Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you decide on this program?

I chose to study abroad because I knew it would be something that would take me out of my comfort zone. I wanted the chance to meet new people and learn about a different culture while challenging myself at the same time. I chose this program because I have always been interested in British culture.

Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your trip that made a lasting impression.

There are many experiences that still stick with me today. One in particular would be the great diversity I felt upon arriving at my internship location for the second half of the semester. Until this moment I really did not realize how different each area in London really is.

Describe your overall study abroad experience.

My overall experience really changed the way I view myself and the world around me. It gave me a chance to see my skills in the business realm with the internship part of the program a long with giving me a chance to find out who I am through all of the traveling. It was an incredible experience overall. It is hard to put into words how crazy and wonderful the city of London is. There are so many things to explore all within reach of central London. Never was there a dull moment.

Based on your experiences abroad, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?

After studying abroad I really feel like I can handle any situation life has to offer now. Being thrown into a new culture prepares you greatly for any situation. This experience helped my professional development because of the connections I made through my internship. It is a great experience to be able to network with international companies and be able to enhance your skills.

What advice can you offer for CSB|SJU students who are considering or planning to study abroad?

Make sure you work hard in your classes and always make time to go out and explore. London has so much to offer and the best way to see it is to just walk around.
