Brittany is an Ambassador who studied abroad in Chile

Major: Biology and Hispanic Studies

Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you decide on this program?
Chile chose me. The Chile program had everything I was looking for in a study abroad program. Chile allowed me to experience a culture completely unique, practice my Spanish, and step out of my comfort zone in new and exciting ways.

Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your trip that made a lasting impression.
I volunteered at a disabled children's hospital, where I got the opportunity to work with very special and amazing children that I will never forget. They taught me so much about myself and I grew from my time spent there.

Describe your overall study abroad experience.
Studying abroad is the best decision you will make! I learned so much about myself, met amazing people, explored South America, made lifelong friends from around the globe, and grew as a Spanish speaker.

Based on your experiences abroad, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?
The benefits are endless. The skills you learn and the experiences you gain while you are abroad you will use for the rest of your life. Academically, you learn so much about culture and history as well as increase your fluency in Spanish.

What advice can you offer for CSB/SJU students who are considering or planning to study abroad?
Don't think twice about studying abroad, just go! I have never met someone who has not loved their study abroad experience. It is the best time in your life and is worth every penny.
