Events scheduled to honor life and legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.

A number of events are scheduled between Jan. 18 and Jan. 30 at the College of Saint Benedict, Saint John's University and the greater St. Cloud area to honor the life and legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The events include performances, workshops, conferences and dinners. Many of the events are free and open to the public.

King was a clergyman, activist and prominent leader in the Civil Rights Movement who was best known for his role in the advancement of civil rights using nonviolent civil disobedience.

One note: the federal holiday to honor King is Monday, Jan. 21. Classes will be held throughout the day at CSB and SJU.
