CSB students selected for Omega Chapter of Delta Epsilon Sigma

Twenty-nine students from the College of Saint Benedict will be inducted into the Omega Chapter of Delta Epsilon Sigma (DES) on Friday, April 7. This is the highest number of students inducted in one year from CSB.

A celebration of the Eucharist is at 5 p.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, Saint Benedict’s Monastery, followed by dinner and induction ceremony in room 204, Gorecki Center, CSB.

Select CSB juniors and seniors are inducted into DES each year based on a series of criteria. Students must maintain a 3.9 grade-point average or higher on a 4.0 scale, while also being involved in the community through volunteer and extracurricular activities.

DES is a national Catholic Honor Society with the purpose of recognizing academic accomplishments, dedication to intellectual activity and service to others. CSB has been a member of DES since its beginning in 1940.

Ten seniors and 19 juniors will be inducted into DES. Here are the inductees, listed by class and alphabetically:

Seniors:

Mary Rose Costello, daughter of Patrick and Trish Costello of Winona, Minnesota. Costello is a nursing major.

Emily Kiolbasa, daughter of Paul and Camille Kiolbasa of Stillwater, Minnesota. Kiolbasa is a biology major.

Mary Korman, daughter of Michael and Mary Kay Korman of Clearwater, Minnesota. Korman is an economics major.

Sara Leifeld, daughter of John and Patty Leifeld of Hastings, Minnesota. Leifeld is a global business leadership major.

Kailey McCoy, daughter of Patrick and Mary McCoy of Victoria, Minnesota. McCoy is an accounting major.

Paige Merwin, daughter of Aaron and Kristin Merwin of Isanti, Minnesota. Merwin is an elementary education major.

Molly O’Neill, daughter of Sean and Jameen O’Neill of New Prague, Minnesota. O’Neill is a nursing major.

Erika Schlangen, daughter of Dale and Julie Schlangen of Belgrade, Minnesota. Schlangen is an elementary education major.

Lindsay Sommer, daughter of Scott and Beth Sommer of Superior, Wisconsin. Sommer is a biology major.

Yanli Yin, daughter of Zhinong Yin and Qing Zhong of Chengdu, Sichuan, China. Yin is a psychology major.

Jaclyn Ann Bautch, daughter of Philip and Robin Bautch of St. Cloud, Minnesota. Bautch is a biology major.
