Six members added to CSB Board of Trustees

Six new members have been appointed to the College of Saint Benedict Board of Trustees.

Scott Blattner, Mary Kramer, Anne Schmidt-Krump, Patrick Sanaghan and Jona Van Deun were recently named as trustees. CSB trustees serve three-year terms, and are eligible to serve three consecutive terms.

In addition, CSB student Isabel Tompkins was elected as an ex-officio member of the board.

All six began their terms July 1. The board consists of 32 members and five ex-officio members.

Scott Blattner

Blattner is beginning his second stint on the CSB board, having served from 2011-14. He is president and CEO of D.H. Blattner and Sons, Inc., and Blattner Energy Inc. of Avon, Minnesota. Blattner earned a Bachelor of Science degree in construction management from North Dakota State University, Fargo. His mother, the late Jean Ardis (Sowa) Blattner attended CSB.

Mary Kramer

Kramer is a 1985 graduate of CSB, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in government. She went on to earn a JD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1988. The attorney has been practicing immigration law for over 20 years in Miami, and prior to her private practice, she clerked for the Miami and Harlingen Immigration Courts.


 

Schmidt-Krump graduated from CSB in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in textiles, clothing and housing. Her husband, Paul Krump, is a current member of the Saint John's University Board of Trustees. Their daughter, Emily Krump, is a 2006 graduate of CSB. Anne Schmidt-Krump has volunteered as a coordinator for Adult Spiritual Enrichment at the Church of St. Joseph, Mendham, New Jersey. 

Sanaghan is president of The Sanaghan Group, an organizational consulting firm specializing in leadership transitions, leadership development, collaborative strategic planning and executive coaching in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. He has written or co-written eight books on effective leadership, and collaborated with CSB President Mary Dana Hinton on various articles in 2012 and 2013. 

Jona Van Deun

Van Deun interned at the White House while a student at CSB. After graduation in 1992, she returned to the White House as a member of the scheduling staff for President George H.W. Bush. In 2000-02, she served as director of scheduling and advance for Second Lady of the U.S. Lynne Cheney. Since 2012, Van Deun has been director of coalitions at Koch Companies Public Sector in Washington, D.C. 


 

Isabel Tompkins

Tompkins is a senior from Chaska, Minnesota, majoring in global business leadership. She was elected by her classmates to serve as the Student Trustee. Tompkins previously served as the student representative on the Academic Affairs Committee and the Common Curriculum Visioning Committee, and attended meetings of the Joint Faculty Senate. She studied abroad in London in spring 2016.
