The College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University together enrolled 3,640 first-year to senior students, as of the 10th day of studies Sept. 11. The students hail from 37 states and 27 countries.

CSB's enrollment this fall is 1,924 students. Undergraduate enrollment at SJU totaled 1,716.

New student enrollment totaled 476 at CSB and 451 at SJU for a combined first-year class of 927. The new class comes from 30 states and 11 countries.

The academic profile (GPA, ACT score and class standing) of the new class is similar to last year and is more racially and ethnically diverse. American students of color made up 15.5 percent of the overall student population, and 20.5 percent of the new class; both are high water marks for the schools. International students made up 4.4 percent of the overall student population and 3.1 percent of the new entering class.

"This is a wonderfully diverse and talented group of first-year entering and transfer students," said Cal Mosley, vice president for admission and financial aid at CSB and SJU. "They bring a wealth of diversity, cultures and energy into our Benedictine community. We could not be more pleased with the spirit and energy they offer us."

The overall retention of continuing students remained very high. Retention from the first year to the second year totaled 88.4 percent, a rate that continues to rank among the highest in the country.
