Richard Dirlam earned First Prizes and Medals of Honor in Saxophone Performance and Chamber Music from the Conservatoire de Musique de Bordeaux, France while in the studio of Jean-Marie Londeix. On every major continent Dirlam has performed recitals, chamber music concerts, and as a soloist with orchestras. In the last several years Dirlam has performed with Edward Turley at the 16th edition of the Stage Internazionale del Saxofono in Fermo, Italy, and, The World Saxophone Congress in St. Andrew, Scotland. He has also recently toured in Japan with the Quatour International de Saxophones premiering new works for quartet and piano. One result of these international festivals was the release of a new CD with Turley - Due Cappuccini - featuring works that the duo performed at these events. The Dirlam-Turley duo is planning another recording in 2014 and concert series in 2015 in Europe. Dirlam also performs and records with the Minnesota Orchestra, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, and other venues in North America. And, he is a founding member of the Quatour International de Saxophones. As its name indicates this quartet of saxophones is composed of musicians living at the four corners of the planet, Japan, Paris, Canada and America. Each year the group performs and records around the world including concert tours in France, Belgium, Slovenia, Japan, Thailand, Scotland, Canada and USA. His discography includes the titles Due Cappuccini, Quatour International de Saxophones Live, She Sings She Screams, Pure Saxophone, I Dig, and Sax Ascendant.
