Biography:
Bassoonist Maia Hamann is an alumna of the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University, where she studied bassoon with Dr. Bruce Thornton. After earning her undergraduate degree in bassoon performance, she continued her education in bassoon performance, ethnomusicology, and linguistics at the University of Minnesota, where her bassoon instructors included John Miller and Norbert Nielubowski. Maia is active as a performer, playing bassoon with the St. Cloud Symphony, Amadeus Chamber Orchestra, and Twin Cities Trio. She also teaches bassoon at CSB/SJU and general music at Holdingford Elementary School. She holds an M.A. in education from Augsburg University and was the music education blogger for Minnesota Public Radio.
