The CSB/SJU Wind Ensemble is the premiere wind band on campus and is comprised of approximately 50 select instrumentalists. Membership includes music majors and minors, as well as a large number of students from a wide variety of other disciplines who excel and enjoy performing on their instrument. The ensemble rehearses three times a week, performs four to five concerts per year in the magnificent 1000-seat Benedicta Arts Center on the CSB campus, and tours regularly. This fall, composer Aaron Perrine, winner of the prestigious American Bandmasters Association Sousa/Ostwald Award in 2013, visited our campus to work with us on his award-winning piece, Pale Blue on Deep.

"Being a member of the Wind Ensemble has been an engaging learning experience. We are presented with challenging repertoire, but still encourages us to build on our own musical talents. Being given the opportunity to perform for family, friends, and community members has inspired me strengthen my own professional performance skills."
Joey Hillesheim, '13, Flute:
Flute Performance major
"The things I love most about the CSB/SJU Wind Ensemble is that it is supportive and
fun-loving like family, yet dedicated to making great music, never forgetting that the reason we come together is a shared love of playing. The CSB/SJU Wind Ensemble is the consummate example of music's ability to bring people closer together."
