Lisa Bush

Upon entering CSB, Lisa knew she wanted to work in the fitness/exercise/health career field and the Sports Medicine program provided courses that helped her get closer to that goal. “Julie Deyak and her staff in the training room drew me to the program! They were all so wonderful and helpful!” said Bush.

During her time spent at CSB, Lisa had an internship at the St. Cloud Hospital in the Cardiac Rehabilitation department which she found to be extremely beneficial. “I was in the stress lab viewing stress tests, phases 1, 2 and 3 doing rehab. I also got to spend time in the cath lab and I saw an open heart surgery! It was so beneficial in helping me to know I was going into the right profession,” shared Bush.

Currently attending the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse, Lisa is working on earning her Master’s degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology. “The most helpful experience through the Sports Medicine program was my internship during my senior year at the St. Cloud Hospital. Working in cardiac rehab there has set me ahead of other students here at UWL,” she said. “Being a Sports Med minor was a great step toward doing what I love and it brought me closer to my goal of being an exercise physiologist.”

Lisa’s advice for current and future Sports Medicine students: Do an internship!!
