Depression and Related Issues Bystander Intervention Program

Do you know someone who might be depressed?

Are there times when you wish you knew what to say to this person?

Are you unsure how to show support and concern?

Building on the General Bystander Intervention program, this two-hour interactive session offers an opportunity to:

  • Understand own knowledge and attitude regarding depression and related issues.

  • Learn more about depression and related issues.

  • Understand the relationship to alcohol and other college stressors.

  • Learn about the skills needed to address your concerns with someone suffering from depression.

  • Reflect on possible helping strategies through discussion based on scenarios, short video clips and role playing activities.

  • Review campus and community resources available.

  • Increase the likelihood of helping in situations involving depression.
