Outreach and Programming

The following information provides examples of past outreach presentations and workshops. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list - other topics may be requested. Please be aware that CAPS staff may not be able to accommodate all outreach program/presentation/workshop requests at all times. Our ability to respond to requests may be impacted by factors such as the current demand for counseling services, as well as the availability of staff members to present on a given topic.  We do coordinate and/or collaborate with health promotion staff on certain requests and topics.

Presentations

Presentations are usually a one-time session open to an entire population or designed for a specific group or location.  It can be anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes depending on the topic and interest of those requesting the presentation.  Topics have included:

Workshops

Workshops are typically one to four sessions in length and are educational in nature. They can focus on a variety of life management issues and are useful in both promotion of healthier lifestyle choices and fostering awareness of mental health issues. Workshops are often offered to the entire campus community, but may also be appropriate for specific groups on campus such as athletic teams, residence hall, or other campus groups and organizations. Common themes for workshops include but are not limited to:

Healthy Relationships

Stress Management

Exercise/Nutrition

Sexuality

Smoking Cessation

Alcohol Use

Depression.

CSB/SJU students, faculty, staff, academic departments, and student groups or organization may request a CAPS outreach program/presentation/workshop. If we cannot meet a request, we will attempt to help you find other resources to meet your needs.
