Financing an Internship Abroad
The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program offers grants for U.S. citizen undergraduate students of limited financial means to pursue academic studies or credit-bearing, career-oriented, internships abroad. Such international exchange is intended to better prepare U.S. students to assume significant roles in an increasingly global economy and interdependent world." (Institute of International Education)
To be eligible for the Gilman Scholarship, students must be:
- Receiving a Federal Pell Grant at the time of application
- Applying to receive CSB/SJU credit through an internship or study abroad experience lasting at least 4 weeks
- Applying to a country that is safe to live, work, and study in (ie. Countries not on the U.S. Department of State's current Travel Warning List)
Students applying for Summer 2015 or Fall 2015 Programs should submit their Gilman applications before March 3, 2015. All application materials are due by 11:59pm Central Time. CSB Global Scholarship
The CSB Global Scholarship will be awarded each academic year to CSB students who participate in a CSB/SJU-sponsored global experience. This scholarship is intended to make global experiences more accesible for CSB students who demonstrate financial need. To recieve this scholarship, applicants must be accepted as a participant in a CSB/SJU credit bearing global experience (including, but not limited to CSB/SJU semester long or short term study abroad and CSB/SJU sponsored global internships).
Recipients of this scholarship will receive awards form $500 to $2000, depending on the type of program and relative need of the student. Approximately 20-30 studnets will receive scholarships each academic year.
Applications can be submitted between February 16 and March 10 for programs operating during the summer of 2014, fall of 2014 and spring of 2015. Apply here.
