CSB/SJU will welcome political author, international social activist, and recent TED * alumnus Sam Daley-Harris to deliver the Center for Global Education's (CGE) Global Topics Series Fall 2013 Lecture:  Reclaiming Our Democracy for the Common Global Good: Challenging World Poverty and Climate Change through Civic Action (Thursday, October 10th, 7:30pm, Founders Room, SJU). As a pioneer and global leader in the field of microcredit, Daley-Harris has been a close collaborator of Nobel Prize Laureate Muhammad Yunus and is acclaimed by Ashoka founder Bill Drayton as "one of the certified great social entrepreneurs of the last decades. CSB/SJU and the local community will have a special opportunity to attend a pre-event social hour and book circle led by Daley-Harris to discuss his book, Reclaiming Our Democracy: Healing the Break Between People and Government. Hailed by Jimmy Carter as 'a road map for global involvement in planning a better future,' it has recently been reissued in an updated 20th Anniversary Edition, with a foreward by Yunus. Join us for libations and lively discussion on October 10th from 4:00-5:15 in the Teresa Reception Center (Main, CSB).  Hurry - space is limited; the first 15 people to register will receive a free book (others will receive a 50% discounted rate of $8.50).
