From Career Services: urge your student to attend career fairs
Happy holidays from the staff of Career Services. We are winding down a successful fall semester and are preparing for a busy spring. As part of our "Tips for Parents," we want to encourage you to have your sons and daughters think about attending the Career Fairs coming up in the second semester. Our offices are already in the process of holding information sessions for the Minnesota Private Colleges Job and Internship Fair being held Feb. 21 and 22 in Minneapolis. This is the largest event we hold during the year with more than 100 organizations seeking students for both full-time positions as well as summer internship programs. Several information meetings will be held throughout December with more scheduled in January and February. This is a great opportunity for sophomores, juniors and seniors to explore many different types of employment options. Representatives from business, government and non-profit sectors will be participating.
For our education majors, the Minnesota Education Career Fair is held in April, also in Minneapolis, and we will begin preparing students for that event starting in late February. In addition to these two large events, CSB/SJU students also have the opportunity to participate in two smaller events, the Diversity Job and Internship Fair held Jan. 27 in St. Cloud and the Environmental Internship and Career Fair held at the University of Minnesota Feb. 1.
We urge you to encourage your student to attend these events.
