Master Sergeant Hughley is a native of Ravenna, Ohio and entered the Army December 26, 1995. He completed One Station Unit Training as an Indirect Fire Infantryman Specialist at Fort Benning, GA. His assignments include: 1-17 IN BN Fort Wainwright, AK; 3-505 PIR Fort Brag, NC; 7th Army Training Command, Vilseck GE; 2-14 IN REGT Fort Drum, NY; both Live Fire and Task Force 1 Joint Readiness Training Center, Fort Polk, LA; 2-30 IN BN Fort Polk, LA.

MSG Hughley served in every level as an Indirect Fire Infantryman Specialist. To include Ammo Bearer, Assistant Gunner, Gunner, Squad Leader, Section Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, and First Sergeant. While assigned to the 7

th Army Training Command he served as an instructor for the Company Commander Rear Detachment Course, the Company Commander/1SG Course, and the Battalion/Brigade Pre-Commander Course in Heidelberg. MSG Hughley has deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 2.5, 06-08, 09-10 and Operation Resolute Support Mission III in Afghanistan. Most recently he served as the HHC 2-30 IN BN 1SG.

His Military education includes Infantry Basic Course, Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Maneuver Advanced Noncommissioned Officers Course, First Sergeant Course, Pre Ranger and Ranger Course, Combat Lifesaver Course, Master Fitness Course, Master Drivers Course, Unit Prevention Leader Course, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, Joint Readiness Training Center Observer Controller Course, Infantry Mortar Leaders Course, Airborne School and Air Assault School.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (2

nd award), Meritorious Service Medal (3rd award), Army Accommodation Medal (5th award), Army Achievement Medal (3rd award), Valorous Unit Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation (2nd award), Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal (7th award), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (silver star), Iraqi Campaign Medal (4th silver stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NATO Medal, Ranger Tab, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Parachutists Badge, Air Assault Badge, German Marksmanship Badge (Gold), and The Order of Saint Maurice (Centurion).

1SG Hughley holds an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Central Texas College. He is married to the former Amanda Ellis and they have three children: Brianna 20, Kyle 17 and Hunter 10.
