Captain William J. Israel was born and raised in Montana and joined the Army in January 2001 where he attended Basic Combat Training, Airborne School, and the Ranger Indoctrination Program.

His first assignment was 2nd Platoon, Charlie Company, 2/75th Ranger Regiment, Joint Base Lewis McCord where he served as an Ammo Bearer, M240B Machine Gunner, Machine Gun Team Leader, Fire Team Leader, Squad Leader, and Weapon Squad Leader from June 2001 to July 2007.

He then served in the Regimental Special Troops Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, FT Benning GA as a RIP Platoon Sergeant, Battalion Air NCO, and RASP 1 NCOIC from July 2007 to July 2011. After completing a BA in Management and Leadership from AMU in 2010, CPT Israel was selected to attend Officer Candidate School and commissioned as an Infantry Officer on 21 October 2011 and completed  Infantry Basic Officer Leadership Course in April 2012.

After IBOLC, he was assigned as a Platoon Leader in 3rd Platoon, Charlie Company, 1/325 AIR, 2 BDE, 82D Airborne Division at FT Bragg NC from June 2012 to August 2013. CPT Israel then attended RASP2 and was selected for assignment in 1st Platoon, Bravo Company, 3/75th Ranger Regiment, FT Benning GA where he served as a Platoon Leader and an Executive Officer in Delta Company from September 2013 to July 2016.

In July 2016, CPT Israel was selected as the Commander of the International Military Student Office (IMSO) for the Maneuver Center of Excellence on FT Benning GA with Charlie Company 3/81AR, 199th INF RGT. As the IMSO, CPT Israel’s company administratively managed over 500 International Military Students from over 100 countries as they attended 15 TRADOC courses on FT Benning. He completed 16 months of command time in October 2017.

CPT Israel has eight combat deployments; 3 deployments to Iraq and 5 deployments to Afghanistan. He has deployed for training to Germany, South Africa, and twice to South Korea. Schools include; Airborne School, Ranger School, Jumpmaster, PLDC, BNCOC, M-ANCOC, Combatives level I & II, EMT-B, Master Breacher Course, Special Operations Combatives Program, OCS, IBOLC, and International Security Cooperation School. Awards include; Bronze Star Medal, 2x Meritorious Service Award, Joint Service Commendation Medal, 10x Army Commendation Medals, 11x Army Achievement Medals, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, 3x Good Conduct Medals, Expert Infantryman Badge, and Combat Infantryman Badge. He was Distinguished Military Graduate in his OCS class and was the 75th Ranger Regiment NCO of the year in 2008.

CPT Israel is married to the former Amy Richardson and they have 4 children; Olivia, Addison, Mason, and Madeline. He also has a son Zach who is studying Mechanical Engineering with an Army ROTC scholarship at Eastern Washington University in Washington State.
