Outdoors at Raft U

The  Great Outdoors

At only 20' by 20', Raft U is not an expansive campus. However, because it floats amid the 3,300 acres of woods and lakes and 15 miles of hiking trails of the CSB/SJU campuses, students have easy access to swimming, hiking, fishing, canoeing, skiing, biking, running and other outdoor fun.

Winter blues? Not at Raft U! Through our partnership with CSB/SJU, we have their own sledding hill, outdoor skating rink, and miles of groomed Nordic ski trails.

Don't have all the equipment? We do! Canoes, kayaks, bikes, rollerbades, and just about everything else you need to enjoy the great outdoors can be checked out for your next adventure.

Get Outdoors
Raft U is a great place to experience the outdoors in all seasons--winter, spring, summer and fall. And, it turns out, CSB/SJU students are willing to take the plunge in any season! Just watch the video.

Get Outdoors at CSB/SJU

When it comes to the seasons of the year, CSB/SJU have everything they need to enjoy winter, spring, summer and fall. View the Saint John's trail map.

Annual outdoor adventures include the Fruit at the Finish Triathlon, Timberdash 5K, Eco-Challenge, and off-campus backpacking and canoeing trips to such locations as the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, the Everglades and the Grand Canyon.

Incoming students are invited to participate in Collegebound, a week-long, pre-orientation, wilderness trip to northern Minnesota.

Have a bike? Bring it! The paved Lake Wobegon Trail begins a few blocks from CSB, runs by SJU and then continues on for a total distance of over 70 miles.
