The Yellow Ribbon Program

The Department of Veterans Affairs has a new benefit to help veterans pay for college called the Yellow Ribbon Program. As members of this program, CSB/SJU offer scholarship assistance of  up to $11,000 per year to qualifying individuals. Combined, the CSB/SJU assistance and the VA Yellow Ribbon benefit will cover a substantial portion of tuition.

The VA Web site defines eligibility for the program as follows:

• You served an aggregate period of active duty after September 10, 2001, of at least 36 months.
• You were honorably discharged from active duty for a service connected disability and you served 30 continuous days after September 10, 2001.
• You are a dependent eligible for Transfer of Entitlement under the Post-9/11 GI Bill based on a veteran service under the eligibility criteria listed above.
