Commencement is one of the most memorable events in the lives of CSB/SJU students and their loved ones. The event celebrates a lifetime's worth of work and marks an important transition from students to alumnae and alumni. To capture and share these memories, CSB/SJU invites students, families, along with members of the CSB/SJU community, to share photos from commencement weekend, memories from the past four years, and well wishes for our graduates. These virtual mementos will be captured in our Commencement 2013 Social Media Scrapbook with Storify.
Seventy-five students from the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University have been accepted into the Theta of Minnesota Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa at CSB and SJU.
Saint Ben's junior Rachel Mullin is one of 62 students from 54 U.S. colleges and universities to be named a 2013 Truman Scholar.
Saint Ben's junior Maria Anderson and Saint John's senior Kody Williams were recently named 2013 Newman Civic Fellows by Campus Compact, a national coalition of approximately 1,200 college and university presidents committed to fulfilling the civic purposes of higher education.
With the end of the academic year approaching, students are talking about their summer plans. Summer is a wonderful time to relax and rejuvenate, but students might not realize it also provides an opportunity to take beneficial steps towards career goals. Whether your son/daughter is a first-year or sophomore who is exploring majors and careers or a junior or senior looking at applying for internships, jobs, graduate schools or volunteer opportunities, the summer is a great time to get ahead in their career.
Your student can avoid library fines by returning all library items before leaving for the summer. All library books for undergraduate students are due on Friday, May 10. Replacement cost will be billed for any material not returned.
To extend due dates into the summer students should check with the circulation desks. They will be able to renew starting May 7.
Does your son or daughter procrastinate? We know all about it, and we don't judge. That's why the librarians offer drop-in research help for last-minute needs. Our extensive drop-in hours are posted on the library website.
Saint John's invites you to a unique event-the first ever Johnnie spring football game at 7 p.m. May 10 in Clemens Stadium under the lights. Please keep in mind this is on a Friday night, the same weekend as graduation for CSB (May 11) and SJU (May 12). This will be a free event but donations will be accepted at the gate to assist the football team's travel to an international game May 18 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.
CSB Campus Ministry invites the CSB graduates, their parents, family and friends to attend either the 9:30 a.m. or the 11 a.m. graduation mass in the Sacred Heart Chapel. It is a wonderful way to begin this special day. We hope to fill the chapel at these masses and bless our graduates as they prepare to step out and take their place in the world.
Shop the CSB/SJU Boosktores for all your graduation needs. We have gifts for the graduating class, as well as gifts for high school graduates who will be coming to CSB/SJU this fall.
