Courtney Bloomfield

Courtney Bloomfield is an Ambassador who studied abroad in London.

Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your trip that made a lasting impression.

A cultural experience in London that has had a lasting impression is the overall culture. Living in South Kensington, walking to Harrods, riding the tube everywhere, walking around Picadilly Circus or Leicester Square, the entire city is unbelievably magical. I was able to meet famous people at movie premieres downtown, see plays, and go to concerts. I don't know if I could pinpoint a specific instance in London, all of it was amazing.

Why did you choose the program in which you participated?

I wanted to study abroad because this school has a great program and I wanted to take full advantage of it. I was able to achieve necessary core credits and see another part of the world at the same time. I chose London because I have wanted to go there since I was young. The culture and sophistication of London is something that has appealed to me for as long as I can remember.

Describe your overall study abroad experience.

Overall my experience was one of a kind. I have experienced things studying abroad that very few people in their life can get to say. I have seen monuments that I have only seen pictures of or read about. There is no place on earth like London and I would never want there to be. This experience is indescribable...me writing a few words doesn't give the program justice. You just have to experience it for yourself.

How has the trip affected you? How are you different for having completed the experience?

The trip affected me because living with 8 people and having 30 people on the trip total tried my patience more than I expected. As cliche as it sounds, I appreciate home more, but my heart is still in London. I can see myself living there sometime in the future or traveling often...it became home to me very quickly

What advice do you have for future Study Abroad Students?

-SAVE MONEY! you will end up spending more than you expect, so save up ahead of time.
-Go out and explore on your own. You won't feel rushed or like you didn't get to see all you want.
-Make a list of what you want to do
-Take too many pictures
