Cheyanne Reglin
Cheyanne Reglin is an Ambassador who studied abroad in London.
Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you decide on this program?
|
As a future educator, I believe it is important to have experience in another country, and truly understand what 'culture shock' really consists of. |
Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your trip that made a lasting impression.
The main reason I chose to study abroad for a whole semester in London was because I knew I had the opportunity to work as an intern while studying in the United Kingdom. No other program had this option. I chose to study during the Spring because I run cross country and track & field, but I had to choose which sport I would rather not participate in during that semester. I also knew the Olympics were taking place closer to Spring semester, so I was glad I could see the changes occurring throughout London during my time there.
Describe your overall study abroad experience.
My overall study abroad experience was phenomenal. My study abroad group became a family. We lived together, ate together, studied together, traveled together, and the list continues for days. I would recommend studying abroad to anyone I talk to.
Based on your experiences abroad, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?
Spending a whole semester abroad gave me the opportunity to develop as a person, and discover things for myself. I was able to become more independent and responsible because I didn't have everything at my fingertips. I worked hard to receive a position as an intern in London, and I didn't want to lose that chance when it was there. I was in a professional environment while working as an intern. It was amazing to experience the work style in London, and compare it to the fast-paced American life-style.
What advice can you offer for CSB/SJU students who are considering or planning to study abroad?
Never pass up an opportunity that is calling your name. When the door opened for me to study abroad, I sprinted toward it, because I know that you only live once. CSBSJU has offered the best things I have experienced in my life, and if I were you, I would take full advantage of anything that comes your way in these short four years.
