Davina and the Vagabonds

It's time to get out the blankets, dust off the lawn chairs and prepare for some great entertainment courtesy of Fine Arts Programming at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University.

Sunset Stages at Saint Ben's, a free outdoor concert series in its fifth season, features five popular Minnesota entertainers, including three acts making their second appearance at the series. All five shows will be held at Darnell Amphitheater, located on the north side of the Benedicta Arts Center at CSB.

Kevin Kling performed on June 20, Allison Scott sang on June 28, Nachito Herrera Trio was on stage July 11 and Robert Robinson performed July 18.

The series winds up with Davina and the Vagabonds. This group returns to Sunset Stages for the second consecutive year at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 25. Led by powerful vocalist Davina Sowers, the band is one of Minneapolis' busiest and has been called a melting pot of blues, American roots and New Orleans music.

Thanks to generous funding support by the Minnesota State Arts Board, Bernick's, D.J. Bitzan Jewelers and Dr. Gustavo Peña, the concerts are free. Seating in the amphitheater itself is available on a first-come basis, but guests are welcome to spread out across the lawns surrounding the BAC.

For more information, contact the Box Office at 32-363-5777 or visit the Fine Arts website.

These activities are made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
