Benedictine Heritage Mini-Grants
The Benedictine Institute seeks to strengthen and articulate the Catholic and Benedictine character of education at Saint John's. In line with this objective the Institute makes available mini-grants to enhance understanding and appreciation of this heritage in courses, residential life programs, and student activities oriented toward service to others.
Funding may be for a single occasion or for a series of events during the course of a semester or an academic year. Examples of ways in which Benedictine Heritage funding may be used include refreshments or meals, transportation and admission to off-campus events, informative materials other than required texts, etc. Funding may not be used for personal compensation or in lieu of institutionally budgeted funds.
The normal maximum amount awarded is $300. An application for up to $500 will be considered if a proposal is judged to have merit that warrants the extra sum. In the event that requests exceed the resources available, preference will be given to those received first. Decisions will be announced promptly.
Applications should be made in the name of the person responsible for the activity to be funded, whether faculty, staff, or student. There is no set application form. The applicant should state briefly the period for which the mini-grant is requested, the use to which the funding will be put, and the name of the person, presumably the applicant, who will be responsible for expenditures.
